Since launching his solo career, though, Green has adopted a more folk-rock vibe, slowing his sound down to create a more simplistic repertoire. He’s seen massive success as a solo artist, and his amazing vocals take front and centre. Many songs just feature his voice and his guitar.
But, his latest track, “Lover Come Back,” takes his signature melancholy lyrics and backs them with a more upbeat, folky melody. The pop-rock arrangement features a bouncing piano, organs and, of course, the simplistic beauty of Green’s vocal tone.
“Lover Come Back” will be featured on City and Colour’s upcoming LP, If I Should Go Before You. It drops October 9 via Dine Alone Records.
