Her song "Ghost," released on YouTube in 2014, generated positive attention and got her signed to Astralwerks, where she subsequently released her Room 93 EP that October.
Her debut full-length record, Badlands, will drop in just a few days, on August 28. In the single "New Americana," a lyric proves true to her musical upbringing and inspiration for the record: "Raised on Biggie and Nirvana," she sings, nodding to her father's taste in rappers and her mother's in rock and grunge. The combination of those two styles, she says, greatly influence her musical style. Her lyrics are open and honest, creating an eye into the inner workings of the young starlet's mind. Her sound has a sort of Tove Lo vibe with a slower, cooler, American hipster edge (she does, after all, have blue hair), and she's now got the quality production to support her rise to fame. Needless to say, she's come a long way from last year's YouTube/SoundCloud fanbase.
She now finds herself topping Billboard’s Emerging Artists Chart, being backed by MTV, and selling out tours.
